Spring Energy Assessment

Posted on 03-15-2016

Spring cleaning is what most people do when the calendar shows the season is weeks away.  It's also a good time to consider having a professional do an energy assessment on your home and/or business.  An energy assessment will help you find out where you can make improvements to help you save money as well as help the environment.

By doing an energy assessment, you can prevent small problems from becoming big, costly problems.  Think of this assessment as preventative maintenance on your home and business. Thermal imaging cameras work best in cold weather, so right before spring when the nights are still below 50 degrees is a good time to detect leaks.  And, you will avoid the waiting list of winter months when many homeowners choose to have this done.  Also, if you find you will need repairs on heating systems, the winter months will have most professionals very busy, and you will likely have to wait a longer period for your repairs.  So, choose an off-peak season to avoid the wait.

Energy assessments include the following:

Infrared Testing - Thermal imaging can find leaks that need to be sealed.

Duct Testing - If there's a problem with moving your heated or cooled air through your home or business then you are wasting money.

Heating Equipment Testing - Make sure your heating equipment is safe and running as it should.  Even a minor repair can lead to big savings.

A professional assessor should give you a report to indicate results of their assessment as well as what needs to be repaired.  It's worth the savings!
