What's the Status on Daylight Saving Time?

Posted on 03-06-2023

Daylight Saving Time (DST) has been a topic of debate for many years, with proponents arguing that it saves energy and increases productivity, while opponents argue that it disrupts people's sleep schedules and has negative impacts on health.

Currently, the status of DST bills varies from state to state in America.  Some states have passed legislation to permanently switch to either Standard Time or DST, while others have proposed bills but have not yet passed them.

As of March 2023, the majority of states in the U.S. observe DST, with the exception of Hawaii and most of Arizona.  However, there are ongoing discussions and debates about the possibility of abolishing DST altogether or making it a year-round practice.

While the future of DST remains uncertain, it is important for people to be aware of any change in their state's DST laws and adjust their schedules accordingly.

Daylight Saving Time begins March 12, 2023

Did You Know?

In August 2005, Hurricane Katrina produced about 20 million megawatts at its peak, about 17 hours before landfall. That approaches 1,000 times the capacity of Louisiana's entire fleet of power plants (26,000 megawatts, as measured during peak summer months).
